Again, Pro Organo has located an artist with a specialty in uncovering and rediscovering great organ music of the recent past. Eugène Reuchsel is much in the same era of the well-known Marcel Dupré. Reuchsel at times pays tribute to Dupré by writing in a style that is somewhat evocative of Dupré's early organ compositions. Here we have a set of impressionistic French pieces, divided into 3 books along with 2 representative samples of other works from Reuchsel's collection of organ works entitled "Bouquet de France." Simon Nieminski has chosen St. Louis Cathedral as his recording location, because its extremely dense and resonant acoustics and the organ produce an effect with this literature that is not unlike many of the largest organs and largest cathedrals in France. It is a sonic spectacular and brings one of the largest sanctuaries in America to your stereo!
