ZS 1001 - EXTENSIONS - A collection
of 4 familiar organ solos in new, extended arrangements containing
original material by Frederick Hohman. The collection contains:
ARIOSO by J. S. Bach - This arrangement, which is extended
with a fantasia, has become a signature piece of the arranger
in concerts. It is heard on the Pro Organo CD "SympHohmania"
(Pro Organo CD 7077) About 9 minutes duration. Intermediate level.
PRIERE A NOTRE DAME by Leon Boellmann. This arrangements
extends the original by over one minute with new material in
the development section. As heard on the new Pro Organo CD "Unseen
Servants." Beginner to intermediate level. 6-1/2 minutes
duration.
AVE MARIA by Franz Schubert. This familiar work is given
a fantasia extension which takes the work into a powerful dimension
not known heretofore in an organ solo arrangement. As heard on
the new Pro Organo CD "Unseen Servants." Intermediate
level. About 6 minutes duration.
TOCCATA from Fifth Symphony by Charles-Marie Widor. This
arrangement includes over a minute of new material. It is very
useful when the normal length of the work is just not long enough
for the need. As heard on the new Pro Organo CD "Unseen
Servants." Requires advanced technique. About 7 minutes
duration.

ZS 1007 - VARIATIONS ON THE HYMN-TUNE KIRKEN

Completed in September, 2011, this composition for organ solo is the most substantive solo work from the composer to date. Written in recognition of more than 50 years of service by Rev. Arthur C. Sziemeister to the parish of First Lutheran Church of Lyons, New York. Moderate to advanced difficulty. Introduction and six variations, plus some connecting interludes. The work is a "dual variations" form, and intertwines variations on the hymn-tune Kirken with free improvisations and variations based on incipits from the Communion Service as found in the 1950s-era Lutheran Service Book and Hymnal.

ZS 1008 - THE HOMECOMING

Completed in February, 1989, this composition for organ solo is just now engraved and published in paper score. Composed as an original work and dedicated to the American organist (now Australian) Amy Johansen, this jazzy, jaunty work takes fragments of popular melodies from the 1920 and 1930s and works them into a new fabric, that leads the listener through a series of descriptive episodes, including one that has musical allegory to a famous football star with the Cincinnati Bengals team.
